My Teacher, My Hero

A teacher is our second parent in our second home which is our school. They know what's best for us inside the campus. Every teacher has their own way of molding a student to become a good and effective leader. We, the students should realize the fact that teachers always think about our sake. If there are times when they are scolding us, it is only their way to show and make us feel that we are wrong or we have done something wrong.

I was still in elementary before, the Valedictorian of our class and the President of the Supreme Pupil Government. Many are saying that I am not that responsible. Yes, I admit that I am too lazy to do my duties and responsibilities. I always think first about relaxing and hanging out with my cousins. They see me as an irresponsible pupil before. When it comes to contests, I always do the same thing everytime we'll have our time to review. I just get my reviewer and book, open and scan them for a few minutes and then leave it open without analyzing and memorizing. And when the contest will come, I am always expecting for a good result but during the declaration of winners and if my name wasn't there, I always get mad and then i'll be scolded by my trainors. I hate being scolded and most of all, I hate sacrificing my time just to memorize and memorize many things. Until one day, our adviser announced that we'll have our new Principal who came from a high class school. At first, I just ignored it but when I saw our next or soon to be our next Principal, I was scared. I was so afraid because I thought that he is cruel and strict to students because he is a male. Another thing which made me feel so mad is when i've known that he will also be our Math teacher. It feels like a thunder had striked me. That time, I really want to cry because I really don't want him to be our Math teacher and my favorite subject is Math! The day came for his first day to teach us and for us to meet him. What a big question in my mind! "Is this really the teacher I've seen before?" I said to myself. He entered our room with a sweet smile in his face as he greets us, "Good Morning!" The nervousness that I felt suddenly disappeared. I was so comfortable as he started to speak and tell informations about himself. I was mistake . He is such a good teacher. Many days had passed, he taught us many things. From all the teachers that I've known, he is the best. He always gives pieces of advice and always reminds me that I should change and be a responsible leader. He is always telling me that I can do it. That I am supposed to be the winner if only I will do my best. From that day, I was enlightened. I became diligent and I focused more on my studies. Then finally, a contest on math came. I felt nervous again for thinking about my lost but he was there saying, "You'll be the winner!" After how many minutes, I was shocked. I won! Yes, I won in the said event! I was so happy that time. It was an achievement. Thanks to my teacher who never left me behind but continued supporting me because he knows that I can. I can still remember, this teacher is no other than Mr. Salvador Lazo Jr.

Outside look is always our basis to judge our teachers, but actually...their attitudes and how excellent they are should be the basis. That's a good experience Adelyn, always bear in mind that not all teachers who have such 'weird' faces are that strict. Say Happy Teachers Month to your former mentor and keep on inspiring :)
