Reflection

Third Grading has come to an end. As I reminisce all the things that we had, there were too many for me to enumerate but the most important of those was learning about the different HTML Tags. The Formatting Tags, Heading Tags, Stand alone Tags and many more.

Honestly, I was a little bit confused with those tags so it was hard for me to perform some of our exercises that I needed the help of my groupmate. I know that it's my fault because I sometimes do not listen on what our teacher is talking about during discussions. At first, I always depend on my classmates but when the time came that we had a test on it, I got a low score. I am not that kind of person that will do anything just to get a high score especially cheating. That time, I was already expecting for a bad result of the test but there was one thing that I put into my mind and that is to never depend on others. I must learn to be independent sometimes especially regarding to my studies. One more problem that I had encountered is my laziness. I didn't have any notes to review before the test because I am too lazy to copy when our teacher tells us to do so.

But at the end, because of the bad result of my tests, I became a person full of lessons in mind. I've learned a lot from this grading period. I should not lose my hope like what our teacher wants to tell us. I must strive harder and be a better student next grading period which will be my last chance. I promise to do so. I will. I can. :)

New Year, New me

Every country celebrates New Year every 1st day of January as a sign that another year had ended and that another year is again coming. Another year that will be filled with different challenges and other things that will surely make us stronger and a better countryman.

Last year was a year with mixed emotions for me. I felt happiness, sadness, jealousy, anger, enjoyment and many other emotions that can be felt by an individual. It was full of unforgettable experiences which made me realize many truth and realities of life. One thing that I have learned is to never invest deep feelings towards someone especially anger because someday they will be gone and it will surely cause pain to us. Let us forgive those who once hurt us, those people who make us feel bad especially if they are part of our family. This is a very important lesson in life that i will never ever forget since the day when the person who became our second father died, my uncle. He is always telling me that I should change my bad attitudes but I always ignore what he tells to me because i don't want the way how he tells it. But when he was gone, that was the time when i realized what he really want me to realize. It was for my sake because many people were giving negative feedbacks on me without my notice and he was the one who have known about it. He only wants the best for me and I felt sorry for what I've shown him when he was still beside me.

Second thing that I can never forget was when I became the President of the MAPEH Club. I didn't expect that many students will support me which made me as the President of the said Club. Many things had happened and I can enumerate all of those.

My 2011 was really full of extraordinary happenings. Together with my family who is always there to help, my friends who are ready to lend a hand, to my teachers who are so patient to us and to all those people who became a part of my life, I am really glad and thankful for the things they've done for me. They are my inspiration to aim higher and do more good things to my neighbor.

I will welcome this 2012 with a sweet smile, a new me with a new personality. :) and I swear this time, I MEAN IT.

KEEPING IN MIND OUR MOTHER TONGUE

All of us have their own language. A language which determines who we are and of what group do we belong. The language that we have is a must to be used by each individual within a community or a group but nowadays, is it being used by the right people? Especially to us, the Ilocanos?
We can easily say that people today are too different from the people who first existed than us. They used to speak through their language and now the essence of our own languages is merely disintegrating. To the Ilocanos like us, starting from the elderly ones down to the immatures, other languages such as English and Filipino are being taught. Parents usually teach their babies to speak usually in English. Do they really know what's wrong on what they're doing? I think they don't. Using other language instead of our own is like merely saying that you are not proud of to where you belong so you choose the other one. It;s like you are shy to use it because you are shy to be recognized as an Ilocano. On the other side, it's not us especially the parents who needs to use it but it's for the children who will be next to us. If we don't want to use our own language then we shouldn't influence the younger ones.
We must realize, internalize and keep in mind the importance of using our own language. It was given to be used by us and not for other people who belong to another group. We must be proud of it because we were given an incomparable language that can only be understood by the Ilocanos like us. We are Ilocanos. We are being recognized by the way we speak and the language that we use when we speak.

Essence of Christmas

As is with any festival, Christmas too has many traditions and customs which are being carried forward by families the world over. These traditions and customs may be as varied as the diversity in cultures. Some, though are common to everyone celebrating Christmas in any part of the world. Everyone loves receiving gifts on Christmas. Children, with their innocence wait eagerly for Santa Claus to bring them gifts. In many countries children hang stockings believing that it will be filled with goodies by Santa Claus. But, as adults we understand the significance of giving more than receiving and plan way ahead to get something thoughtful for our near and dear ones.

What is the significance of Christmas? Jesus is the essence of Christmas, as a matter of fact, the word Christmas is a derivation of the word ‘Christ’. If we are celebrating Christmas, it is therefore important to know and believe in the person after whom the day was named.

As shown in the biblical passage above, Jesus Christ came on a salvage mission, to save mankind from their sins. Christmas should therefore be a time for repentance for those who have not accepted God’s plan of salvation for mankind, and a time for sober reflection and rededication for those all those that have accepted the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Jesus was born about years over 2000 years ago to save you from your sins. The good news is that his salvation programme did not end over 2000 years ago. He is still alive ready to save you from your sins. God has given a grace of over 2000 years for anyone willing to be saved to come unto him. As Christmas rolls in, it should be a time of remembrance of Gods plan of salvation. If you do not have Christ in your life, then you be celebrating Christmas without the presence of the Celebrant in your life.

The essence of Christmas is therefore to accept Christ, the celebrant into your life and invite him to dine with you for the rest of your life. The good news is that there is a greater Christmas in heaven, a Christmas whose celebration do not end in a day. Only the redeemed can participate in this everlasting Christmas.
